This spirit tries to block us from having a meaningful relationship with God and each other. This teaching brings us to an understanding of what the spirit of religion looks like in our midst and what we can do to challenge this spirit.

We learn to shed off traditions, customs, cultures, ways of doing things, and commandments we have made that are not the commandments of God.
